It is well known that tornadoes can be identified visually or by analysis of doppler radar. Advances in technology have allowed sensors that measure electrical energy, lightning and other sources, to determine how intense is the thunderstorm that is generating the energy. One device, tornadoAlert, even determines distance and movement as it updates every minute. This talk will describe the technology and how it can be utilized - for household protection, storm spotter activity, or lightning threat awareness.
